Abortion:Blessing or Curse - Research Paper Sample

To abort or terminate is a common word used to refer to the act of bringing to an end an activity or a process. Abortion as used in the medical world is an act of bringing to an end the developmental process of a conceived fetus due to various circumstances. The reasons why this is done will vary from one person to another and the circumstances in which the person finds herself.

According to the world health organization, the reason why people practice abortion include the need to save the woman’s life, to preserve her physical and mental health, due to various economic and social reasons such as rape and incest, fetal impairment as well as abortion being done on request by parties involved. Irrespective of any reason given, could you stop and imagine where you could be if you had been aborted?

Though it is still a controversy among many people, life begins at conception and any action that will lead to its termination results into a contravention of the article 3 of the UN’s universal declaration of human right that declares everyone’s right to life, liberty and security. As human beings, we also believe that there is someone behind the existence of the world let alone life. According to the bible and other religious books, everyone is born with a purpose. We therefore go against the creator of world and human life when we terminate it.

Human beings are also created with conscience. Terminating other people’s life therefore leads to bad memories of guilt. This can be a big burden to bear in one’s lifetime. As a consequence, abortion has always led to serious health implications including not being able to have a child and at worst deaths. It has been reported that abortion accounts for 1 out of every 3 deaths in developing nations. Abortion is therefore like a curse which threatens the very existence of human life. Everyone should therefore rise to the occasion to prevent this life threatening activity.
